Something Old, part 2

Remember when I posted about all the great stuff I found at my grandma's back in September?  I left out my absolute favorite things that I found that day.

Although I probably get most of my love of sewing from my mom, my grandma was an avid seamstress as well.  We found boxes and boxes of fabric that she had saved.  And she saved everything!  I went through the fabric and picked out my favorites.

Grandma had rolled and wrapped all of her fabric so perfectly.  She would probably shake her head at my big tub where I fold throw all my fabric.

After almost 4 months of planning, measuring, cutting, stitching, and ironing I finally have something to show for it:

And I can't even get a good picture of the whole thing at once.  Quilts are hard to photograph.

This quilt is full of stories. Each piece of fabric here was used for something.

This was used to make pajamas for grandpa.

Grandma made herself a coat from this one.

Grandpa's living room pillow was covered with this.

And these were embroidery pictures done by grandma.
They used to be in picture frames hanging on the wall.

I decided to use flannel for the backing of the quilt and use two layers of batting.  It is the coziest quilt ever.
The first time Jill used it she said, "I will seriously pay you legit money for this."

If you need me, I'll be staying warm all winter.

Thanks for reading.
